As the pandemic escalates and the virus propagates, fear spreads at an exponential rate. Human contact becomes luxurious, and virtual connection becomes the quotidian. When\u2019s your next online meeting?<\/em> And – hello, metaverse<\/em>. Can we ensure that the other world is not infected by the virus?<\/p>

Since the rise of social media, the speed at which information are disseminated has been increasing at a mega scale. Massive amount of human-to-human chains transmit information at lightning speed like viruses. The virtual world has actually been invaded by all kinds of viruses for a long time. We would contract a virus and recover, and before long another piece of information would be transmitted; and this process would repeat itself again and again. As with the fatal viruses and bacteria that had caused the most recent pandemics in history, we have long since learned to co-exist with this predicament.<\/p>

GO BACTERIA!<\/em> transforms data from social media into a mechanical installation, in which the transmission of data determines the appearances and movements of the machines. Sets of bionic machinery reflect the spread and changes of information, and also set the scene for a bacterial contest-cum-showcase.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

FUNG WING LAM<\/h6>

Fung Wing Lam is a new media artist and interactive designer. She graduated from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong, majoring in New Media (Bachelor of Arts and Science). Most of her works are inspired by experiences in the daily life, making use of the environment, body sensations and spatial elements as the media to express her artistic ideas through electronic devices, images, and programming devices.<\/p>

Fung received the Silver Award (Interactive Media Category) at the 19th ifva Festival in 2014, and her works were exhibited in Art Basel Hong Kong (2021), Cattle Depot Artist Village (2020), PMQ (2019), Hong Kong City Hall (2018), JCCAC (2018) and Hong Kong Arts Centre (2014). She was an installation art designer and engineer in art projects including Human + Machine NOW<\/em>, Emergency Kit & Wishing Pool<\/em>, Another Music in Anticlockwise<\/em>, Over The Ocean<\/em>, and so on.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

SETH HON<\/h6>

Seth Hon Ka Chun graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, and is a member of the Hong Kong-Taiwan new media art team Dimension Plus.<\/p>

Hon\u2019s works focus mainly on displaying data in different perspectives and dimensions, presenting them through different media such as video and sculpture. He has been active in international festivals and exhibitions including Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, Surfaces Festival in Venice, and Nuit Blanche in Taipei. He was the recipient of Taiwan’s Golden Pin Design Award \u2013 Best Design of the Year; German Design Award; Design for Asia Awards \u2013 Gold Award; and Macau Design Award \u2013 Best Gold, among others.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
